"I’m choosing not to comment on whether or not the furs I purchase are faux fur-pile. I’m not a strict vegan. I have truly always stayed away from skinned fur, especially I have never been able to afford a nice one, but this does not mean my morals are rigid and that I won’t bend at the sight of an absolute art piece of a coat. I have no chains about this. But I am truly sorry to fans who are upset by this. I respect your views, please respect mine!"
"Working with a stylist is an enlightening and empowering experience - it is all about you. I’d have it no other way."

VALENTINO: Fall Couture 2012
#STUNNING! Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, Valentino Creative Directors since October 2008, pumped out - what I have to say was - the best in show! Their studio mood board was said to be dense with nineteenth century altered states: the symbolists, the decadents, a romantic spirit that combined ecstatic release and exhausted lassitude. Valentino is a house that traditionally reads red, but Chiuri and Piccioli dialed down to blue, introspection and reflection versus the extrovert essence of house habit. It made for a quietly spectacular opening in crepes, chiffons, and cashmeres with a totes lush sobriety. Photos by Alessandro Viero

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER: Fall Couture 2012
HARDCORE! So um, Sherlock Holmes, meets bionic cybertron - perhaps from the 1927 film Metropolis? The colours—absinthe, coral, gold, papal purple—were the that of opium dreams. For a 59 piece collection I can’t help but feel that our dearest Gaultier found himself in an ‘ensembly challenged’ pickle! Lots of fabulous ideas—especially the gold lined number!— just too many at once! Photo’s by Yannis Vlamos

Okay, so! New Zealand Fashion Week (NZFW), New Zealand’s only internationally focused fashion event, is getting ready to build it catwalks for the 12th year and is now just 12 weeks away. #TotesExcited!
The week long event - Tuesday 4 to Friday 7 September - will see buyers, media and the fashion industry taking seat as New Zealand’s top designers showcase their Autumn / Winter 2013 collections to the world. Don’t feel left out as though as Fashion Weekend, Saturday 8 and Suday 9, will give the public their opportunity to buy and engage with their fashion industry legends! (Tickets available through iTicket from Monday 16th July).
The event will return to its new home in the vibrant hub of Auckland City, the state of the art Viaduct Events Centre, which saw more than 40,000 people walk through its doors in 2011.
Its been said that the list of participating designers will be confirmed four weeks before NZFW, with media registrations opening in the first week of July - finger’s crossed you’ll see me there! Other key events in the build up to the week include the NZFW Designer Bootcamp, which sees New Generation designers given awesome mentoring and insights into the business side of the fashion industry.
So stand-by and hang on tight for more updates on what could be said as New Zealand’s fashion event of the year :P
"Fashion is as profound and critical a part of the social life of man as sex, and is made up of the same ambivalent mixture of irresistible urges and inevitable taboos."
